How do I adjust the comfort features – humidity and ramp time – on my AirSense 11?

How to access your comfort settings on the AirSense 11:

On your AirSense 11 machine, use the touchscreen to go to My Options to see your current settings. From here, you can personalize your options.

Humidity Level The humidifier moistens the air and is designed to make your therapy more comfortable. With the Climate Control Auto setting, both temperature and humidity are automatically preset at levels designed for maximum comfort. If you have a ClimateLineAir™ heated tube, all you have to do is plug it in and press Start. Note: ClimateLineAir heated tubing is required to use Climate Control Auto.

You can also manually set the Humidity Level to Off or between 1 and 8, where 1 is the lowest humidity setting and 8 is the highest humidity setting.

If you’re getting a dry nose or mouth, turn up the humidity. If you’re getting any moisture in your mask, turn down the humidity.

How to adjust humidity: In My Options, select Humidity Level. Scroll and select the desired humidity level.

Ramp Time Ramp Time is the period during which the pressure increases from a low start airflow pressure to your prescribed treatment pressure. You can set your Ramp Time to Off, from 5 to 45 minutes or Auto. When Ramp Time is set to Auto, the device will detect when you have fallen asleep and then gradually increase to the prescribed treatment pressure.

How to adjust Ramp Time: In My Options, select Ramp Time and adjust to your preferred setting.

How do I connect the myAir app to my AirSense 11 machine?

Make sure that Bluetooth® is enabled on your smartphone and then log in to the myAir app and follow the prompts to connect to the AirSense 11 machine. If you don’t see the four-digit key on the AirSense 11 screen, go to the Home menu and tap +More, and then tap myAir.

How loud is the ResMed AirSense 11?

AirSense 11 operates at sound levels of about 27 dBA during sleep therapy operation which in comparison to other CPAP machines, can be considered to be very quiet.

Can I use the AirSense 11 without water?

Yes, the machine can work without water in the humidifier water chamber but you’ll need to turn the humidification feature off in the “My Options” menu and insert the empty water chamber into the machine.

Do I need to change my CPAP water daily?

Yes. You must refill your humidification water chamber daily with distilled water and this is recommended not only for proper maintenance of your device but for overall health as well as overused water can breed microorganisms which can in turn, make you sick.

2. ResMed AirSense 10 Elite with HumidAir Humidifier

The Good

The ResMed AirSense 10 Elite with HumidAir Humidifier has advanced features to help you deal with sleep apnea more effectively. You can set it to start increasing the pressure only after you fall asleep. You won’t need to press a button to start it running as it will initiate treatment once it detects your breath on the mask. Humidifier, which is already integrated, is also a plus.

The Bad

It’s too heavy and bulky that it won’t be practical to carry it with you when you travel. However, its high price might be the greatest deterrent for potential buyers.

The Bottomline

This is a powerful, effective, and easy-to-use machine. It is also evident that the manufacturer took the time and effort to design the product to give its users the most comfortable treatment possible. While the price might be higher compared to other brands, you are still getting what you pay for in the end.

Founded in 1989, ResMed is a well-known brand in the medical equipment niche and has been designing and manufacturing CPAP machines since then. Given its decades of experience, it’s not surprising that the company has consistently churned out high-quality products such as its latest offering, the ResMed AirSense 10 Elite with HumidAir Humidifier.

People who’ve tried resmed cpap machine just love this particular fixed-pressure device because it is user-friendly making therapy equally easy. And, it is packed with high-tech features for an effective sleep apnea therapy. To give you a better understanding of what this product could offer, we’ve highlighted some of its features below.

Perfect automation and customization

Even when starting the machine, you don’t actually need to push the power button as it will automatically initiate the therapy on its own. This is possible due to its Smart Start feature. The machine is so intelligent that it can detect the moment you start breathing into the mask, which signals it to initiate the therapy without you having to push a single button at all.

The machine’s AutoRamp sleep onset detection feature differs from the normal ramp you find in other CPAP machines. The reason is that it will wait until you start sleeping before gradually increasing the pressure to the level prescribed by your doctor. Since you won’t feel the pressure increase while still awake, falling asleep will be easier and more comfortable.

While other brands only offer a humidifier as an option, this machine already comes with integrated humidification as a standard feature. This ensures that you will only experience comfortable sleep and none of those nasty side effects that sometimes comes when using CPAP machine without a humidifier such as dry throats and nasal passage irritation. The device even allows you to customize the humidity level for optimal comfort during treatment.

Peaceful sleep for everyone

While their CPAP machines may help them restful sleep throughout the entire night, some folks with sleep apnea worry that using the device might disturb the sleep of their partners. This is a very valid concern as some products might be too loud or might have screens that are too bright.

Thankfully, it won’t be an issue with the ResMed AirSense 10 Elite with HumidAir Humidifier. During operation, the machine produces only 27 dBA of noise, which is silent enough that it won’t disturb anyone else in the bedroom with you.

In addition, the device has an ambient light sensor which is capable of detecting the intensity of light in your room and adjusts its screen’s brightness accordingly. In brightly lit rooms, the screen will be brighter as well so you will still be able to read it at a glance. The screen light intensity will dim once you turn some of the lights off so it won’t be so glaring.

But I just wish...

While the ResMed AirSense 10 Elite with HumidAir Humidifier is an impressive CPAP machine, it does have some areas that can be improved on. For instance, it is quite heavy as it weighs 5 pounds. It is also a bit too bulky with dimensions measuring is 10″ L x 4.6″ W x 5.9″ H making it unsuitable to bring with you when you travel. Its price is another unfavorable issue. Currently, it is offered at slightly over $800, which might be beyond the budget for some potential buyers.

At the end of the day, here at WellAwareSystems, we think it’s all about weighing the good and the bad of a product. No machine is perfect thus, the best way to know which one is for you to be clear with your lifestyle and what you’re willing to spend. And of course, what your doctor recommends. A comfortable sleep is what we’re all aiming for, and no doubt, this product can give you that.
